NetherRealm Studios has announced that Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition marks the end of the game’s post-launch cycle, although they will continue to provide balance patches. Despite speculation about additional DLC, particularly after the Khaos Reigns story expansion’s underwhelming performance, the focus has shifted to their next project. While Mortal Kombat 1 sold approximately 5 million units—significantly less than Mortal Kombat 11’s 15 million—it featured a similar number of DLC characters. Interestingly, Mortal Kombat 1 enjoyed a longer post-launch support period, spanning 619 days compared to 574 for Mortal Kombat 11.
