With Street Fighter League being a core part of the competitive Street Fighter experience for several years now, it’s no surprise that we’re going to see many players do their best to perform once more in 2025.
Japan has by far the largest Street Fighter League and their season of the league stretches over many months, which is fitting considering their massive playerbase as well as the large amount of pro players in that part of the world. Today, one team put out an epic trailer to strike fear into their opponents.
One of the strongest teams last year was Yogibo REJECT which ended up taking 2nd place in the Japanese competition.
With Reject|Tokido as their leader, the team at the time consisted of himself, DRX|Leshar, Akira and Torimeshi.
This year, two of those players have departed and we see two absolute legends of Japanese competitive fighting game history joining the ranks alongside the two remaining team members to form what might be the most stacked team we’ve ever seen in a Street Fighter League competition.
Before spoiling the roster, we’re going to post the trailer right below so that you can check it out.
That’s right — the two BST members who last year were part of Saishunkan Sol, BST|Daigo and the now Reject|Fuudo, have signed up with remaining REJECT members from last year Tokido and Leshar to take the championship home together.
While this may be one of the strongest teams we’ve ever seen for any of the regional Street Fighter Leagues, it’s also worth noting that it probably has one of the highest average ages we’ve seen for a team too with Tokido, Daigo and Fuudo all being over 40, though the young newcomer Leshar definitely pulls that average down a bit.
This news also comes off of Daigo’s recent declaration that he is going to focus less on streaming in order to pivot further towards competitive playing again, so it definitely seems like The Beast is aiming to come back with a vengeance in 2025.
With last year ending in a 2nd place for the team, there’s only one spot they can reach to improve upon last year’s performance — there’s no path but victory, which fits with the trailer’s title of “REJECT EVERYTHING, BUT VICTORY.”
